Tuesday begins with a hearty breakfast in preparation for a full day of offsite exploration. Students travel in chartered school buses a few miles up the coast to observe the amazing Elephant Seals! After meeting the elephant seals and some scientific sketching, the students head over to nearby San Simeon cove for sandy beach ecology classes. All then enjoy some free time activities upon returning to the camp. We close the evening with a campfire program and our exciting night time adventure game - "Nocturnal Avengers". Wednesday the focus turns to the forest. Students will study forest ecology, looking under logs, observing tiny critters, learning about animals, creating some “nature art” in the forest, and experiencing activities about human uses of the forest. This evening’s campfire may be ignited by rubbing sticks together, setting the stage for a special guest speaker who will share ancient uses of natural resources. Students wake on Thursday for another day of great adventure! The buses take us Friday we tie the previous days' experiences together and have a trivia competition with prizes.
