Sample Schedule: 5 Days, 4 Nights, 11 Meals, 2 Offsite Trips

Students arrive on Monday, and glimpse the ocean through the pines. Our staff help them settle into the new strawbale cabins and give a quick tour of the camp. Depending on the tides, we begin with team building games or launch directly into our marine biology activities and a trip to the tidepools. After a nutritious dinner in our ocean view lodge, students enjoy a s’more cookout at the campfire as naturalists lead songs and tell stories. Following the campfire activities, naturalists announce a special night hike to close the day’s activities!
Tuesday begins with a hearty breakfast in preparation for a full day of offsite exploration. Students travel in chartered school buses a few miles up the coast to observe the amazing Elephant Seals! After meeting the elephant seals and some scientific sketching, the students head over to nearby San Simeon cove for sandy beach ecology classes. All then enjoy some free time activities upon returning to the camp. We close the evening with a campfire program and our exciting night time adventure game - "Nocturnal Avengers".
Wednesday the focus turns to the forest. Students will study forest ecology, looking under logs, observing tiny critters, learning about animals, creating some “nature art” in the forest, and experiencing activities about human uses of the forest. Students may get a chance to handle some live animals or see Rufus, the camp red-tailed hawk, up close. This evening’s camp fire may be ignited by rubbing sticks together, setting the stage for a special guest speaker who will share ancient uses of natural resources.
Students wake on Thursday for another day of great adventure! The buses take us 
to Morro Bay National Estuary for studies in the amazing estuary ecosystem. Students may take a Kayak trip among the otters. Egrets, herons, peregrine falcons, mud flats, pickleweed, eelgrass, ghost shrimp…it is just a great day of marine science! We may still have time for a snack and afternoon free time before dinner. The evening program may be focused on nocturnal adaptations in the presence of Jabbers, the camp great horned owl, or perhaps students will join in an environmental debate called, or they may have our memorable closing campfire.
Friday we tie the previous days' experiences together and have a trivia competition with prizes. Then, inspired with smiles, hugs and tears, the students depart with fond memories and heightened awareness of their natural world.
