Having just moved here to California from Florida last year, I’m looking forward to the warm weather and long days that we’ll have here during the summer. I'm Pop Nature, and I've lived within 3 miles of the beach my whole life. I love to share ocean adventures with kids. School is over and now it is time for some fun! We'll be at the tide-pools, boogie boarding, exploring the sand dunes, horseback riding on the beach, hiking in the redwoods, and maybe even sliding around in the mud flats. We've got a great staff, all the reservations are made, and I can't wait for another summer camp season. See you soon!
Hey kids, my name is Riptide, and I am the Daytime Coordinator here at Camp Ocean Pines. This is my third summer at C.O.P. and, needless to say, I am ridiculously stoked for you to come this summer. We are going to have many crazy adventures! Ok a little about me: I am a native of the Central Coast and I love it here! I love to spend time hiking in the hills and kayaking in the ocean (both of which we are going to do this summer). I also like singing and playing guitar... so get ready for some fun time around the campfire! I also love to travel, I have been to 45 countries and I am going to be adding two more (Nepal and India) this summer after camp. Then I'm going back to school to do my Master's degree in London. So I guess I am a bit of a study nerd too! Anyway, I cant wait to meet you. Peace!
That's right kids, Doc is back. Returning for a second summer at Camp Ocean Pines, Doc is looking forward to more ridiculous fun times, crazy singing campfires, and showing kids how a true non-Californian does summer on the coast. Originally from the sun, dirt, and disgusting heat of Phoenix, Arizona, Doc came out to Camp Ocean Pines last year and simply never went back. Now having spent this last year on the coast teaching as a naturalist, he is excited to share his love of nature and the ocean with all the kids at camp. Of course he's always also looking for some new surfing buddies too!
"Hey, everybody! My camp name is Thor and I'm returning from a previous summer here at the camp. The best reason I am returning is because the camp is EXTREMELY fun. I learned a lot about wildlife and nature while having fun. For all you first-time campers, there are plenty of reasons of why Camp Ocean Pines is a great camp. The environment is really awesome. You’ll make friends with all the other kids. The counselors want to help you have fun. You’ll go kayaking in the bay. We’re always going to the beach. You get to go on hikes that over look the ocean. One of the greatest things I LOVE to do is.... go sand jumping. There is a sand dune we go to where we climb up and them run, roll and jump down! The object is to see how far down we can jump. That is only one of the many, many fun games we play. The last thing I really love about the camp is the awesome kids. The campers and counselors really enjoy having fun together. After that is all said and done, everybody is having a great time. See you soon!"
Howdy! My name is Junco and I hail from the great state of Michigan. It is amazing to live by the ocean--my favorites parts are kayaking, wild life, and the beaches. I am excited to wake up every day to hear nature sing a song. I can explore with campers all day long. Can’t wait to meet you, we’ll have a great summer!
My name is Koi, and I am looking forward to returning to Camp Ocean Pines this summer. As my name indicates, I love the water and can't wait for all the fun ocean adventures planned for this summer. I am a student at the University of Nevada, Reno, where I am studying to become a Spanish and social studies teacher. I love sports, especially soccer, and I am so excited for our big camp games. I look forward to seeing familiar faces, as well as making new friends at camp!
Call me Bubba. You are destined to have a good time ahead. I'm from the Florida Keys where I inspired and excited tomorrow’s youth with marine science exploration. Bringing my love of shark fishing and extreme tide-pooling, Camp Ocean Pines adds a new element of diabolical fun. Notorious for sticky monkey flower disguises, I might be found wandering camp welding a flame torch aimed for the heart of ripe pine cones. My entourage includes all types of Mollusks with special spots for polyplacophora and cephalopods. If you are lucky enough to spend time with me this summer, you’re assured to have an infamous and epic adventure.
"G’day, my name is Ukie and I come from the land down under – Australia!! ...and no, I don’t ride kangaroos to work! I am 18 years old and before going off to Uni to study design, I’m coming to Camp Ocean Pines to be one of your camp counselors! I can’t wait!! I love all things arty, especially what’s called ‘scratch work’, and I am looking forward to spending time at the beautiful Californian beaches with you this summer. I also enjoy playing Basketball and Softball, however I wouldn’t say that I am a competitive threat... I’m looking forward to getting to know everybody this summer and I will see you soon!"
"Hi Everyone! My name is Aloe and I am very much looking forward to being your camp counselor this summer! I was born in Wisconsin but moved to Arizona when I was sixteen and have been living there for over eight years now. I am a student at the University of Arizona and very much enjoy the desert outdoors. However, nothing can ever compare to being near the ocean which is one of the many reasons why I think that we are going to have a great summer together! I hope all of you are stocking up on sunscreen because very soon it is going to be time for some fun in the sun!"
"Hello, I'm Buddy and I'm from Russia. I'm a student of Mathematics Department, Novosibirsk State University. I like fresh air, games and I'm eager to be a camp counselor in California because of new circle of friends, new feelings. Also I want to apply my skills I've got here. And at last but not at least, I want to come to California because of Ocean:) And finally some words about my Motherland: Russia is really big country that stretches across much of the north of Eurasia. This country has rich and very interesting history that begins with that of the East Slavs in 8th century. This picture of me is with the daughter of my buddy, taken during the cruise. We were playing a game, I don't know how to name it, but I asked her to show me an angry face. Hope to see your smiling face soon."
"I'm Condor from Colombia. It will be a pleasure to work with you. As a counselor, my main goal for this summer is to have a lot of fun and enjoy everything we do, and even better because we are from different cultures so we will be able to share great things. I love sports and adventures, and even better, swimming, which is something were going to do frequently. Right now I am an undergraduate student of industrial engineering, I live with my family including my dog which is a schnauzer and I do airplane modeling as my main hobby. My country, Colombia, is a really great place to live, we have great people here, very good food, excellent music and were surrounded everywhere by extremely tall mountains covered by exotic nature. I am really happy to work at Camp Ocean Pines because its near the beach and the landscape is beautiful, but primarily because this will be a great experience for me, not only because of working abroad, but because I’m going to meet new people from different countries. So, I will try to do my best to have an unforgettable experience with you guys. But be sure were going to have a great time there."
"Hey Campers! My name is Hopper and I'm from the mountains and Valleys of Montana. I am very excited to move to California to spend the summer with you, we'll have a lot of fun at Camp Ocean Pines. I really enjoy playing outside and learning about cool things like bugs and trees. I'm excited to be in a new place and make new friends too! I look forward to meeting you."
"Hi i am Crickett. I live in Bunbury in Western Australia but was living in a small farming community before I attended boarding school in Bunbury. I am now on my gap year before I attend university in 2009. I want to travel while I am young so I figure this will be a great experience. I enjoy many sports and hobbies, these include Australia Rules, cricket, motocross, mountain biking, fishing, golf, waterskiing and wakeboarding just off the top of my head. I love the competition and being in a team, but it's not all serious, most just for fun! I want to make the most of this experience so bring it on I say. This is just a little about me."
