Summer Camp 2010 Is On It's Way!
Are you ready for an epic Ocean Adventures summer camp here at Camp Ocean Pines?
Come spend a week or two or three with us exploring tide pools, kayaking, body boarding, hiking, doing arts and crafts, learning native American skills and much more!
Come check out our hidden spots!
As a camper you will get to hike to our secret spot to watch Elephant Seals. You will get to kayak in Morro Bay and get close to Sea Otters and Sea lions. You will explore tide pools and hold crabs and sea stars. Of course there are all the fun games and arts and crafts as well that you would expect at summer camp.
What Will You Do At Summer Camp?
As an Ocean Adventurer you will be:
- Kayaking in Morro Bay
- Tide pooling in Cambria
- Body boarding in Cayucos
- Swimming at San Simeon Cove
- Jade hunting and hiking in Big Sur
- Along with great ocean-based activities, students can make different arts and crafts and have the chance to participate in many other traditional camp activities.
Come Camp Out With Us!
This summer we have 3 opportunities to camp off-site at, Big Sur, Morro Bay and Yosemite National Park. Come explore the beautiful Big Sur coast and play in the creek and sleep out in tents. We'll have fun hiking around Morro Bay and playing in the forest. You could be one of the first Camp Ocean Pines campers to camp out in Yosemite! It is going to be a great time.

Big Sur - Basics of Backcountry - July 4-9, $825
This is a great introduction trip if your child has never been backpacking before and would like a taste of what the backcountry experience
is about. This trip will be a step-by-step walk through backcountry living. Campers will learn how to: pack a pack, set up a tent, travel comfortably with their home on their back, set up a stove and cook a backcountry meal, and how to work as an important part of a team in an absolutely beautiful part of the central coast!
Yosemite - Above Treeline and Beyond! - July 18-30, $985
This trip is for an ambitious camper who is interested in spending some quality time in one of the largest and least divided habitat zones in the Sierra! During this trip, the hikers will drop in and share their experiences with the “Yosemite Campout” campers of the regular summer camp portion. Your child will get the chance to learn the basic skills of backcountry travel. In addition, they will have the opportunity to hike the back of half dome and travel to several high alpine lakes that the majority of Yosemite tourists never see. I can't wait!
Sequoia and Kings Canyon - Born to be Backcountry - August 1-13, $985
This is our ‘cream of the crop’ leadership-training trip. Campers will have a very unique opportunity to develop their backcountry and leadership skills in the nation's 3rd National Park! Campers will learn the basics of backcountry travel, hone their orienteering skills and additionally they will get the opportunity to be more involved in the food rationing system. This trip is for campers who are looking for a more challenging and rigorous backpacking experience. We encourage students who are athletic and interested in spending 9 days in the backcountry to consider being an essential part of this awesome trip!
