2005 Performing Arts Instructors
Leslie Tinnaro
Leslie is especially happy when she is performing in the role she feels closest to her heart. "Eliza Doolittle", the flower girl turned lady in the musical My Fair Lady. Leslie has portrayed "Eliza" with the Fullerton Civic Light Opera, the Moonlight Amphitheatre and aboard the SS Norway cruise ship. Her professional musical career began in Northern California performing summer stock with Sacramento Music Circus. After auditioning for Hal Prince, Leslie was selected for the original company of Evita, performed at the Shubert Theatre in Los Angeles. This launched her five-year New York musical stage career that included the Broadway company of Evita. Her other favorite roles include "Sally" in Cabaret, "Tuptim" in The King and I, and "Lilly" in Carnival. When not performing Ms. Tinnaro sings with an a cappella trio, directs two children's choirs, or coaches 27 voice students. She is a native of Southern California. Her favorite role is that of mom to her two children. This is her second year at Camp Ocean Pines.
Andrew Shafer
Andrew Shafer is currently a theater major (emphasis on playwrighting and directing) at the distinguished UCLA School of Theater Film, and Television, currently ranked the best theater school in the nation. Andrew was one of 60 out of 3500 accepted to this school; addtionally, he was one of 5 out of the 60 to receive an arts merit scholarship (Darren Star Scholarship) for his outstanding theatrical work. Andrew has also studied at the Lee Strasberg Institute, Comedy Sportz, Theater of NOTE: Writing Workshops, Class Act: Actors' Studio, and the Groundlings School of Improv. He has staged productions of Shakespeare's Pericles, Prince of Tyre, Richard III, and Othello- in addition to Medea at the Fowler Ampitheater, the musical The Last 5 Years, and original productions of Electra and True Story: Using Fictitious Names, Settings, and Events. This past summer one of his productions, Electra, had a successful three week professional run in Hollywood. Additionally, Andrew has received numerous honors and awards at regional theater festivals for his work in one act, classical, and improvisational theater. Andrew ran the Shakespeare Youth Camp last year.
