Meet The Summer Staff

Pop.jpg

I'm Pop Nature, and I've lived within 3 miles of the beach my whole life.  I love to share ocean adventures with kids.  We'll be at the tide-pools, boogie boarding, exploring the sand dunes, horseback riding on the beach, hiking in the redwoods, and maybe even sliding around in the mud flats.  We've got a great staff, all the reservations are made, and I can't wait for another summer camp season.  See you soon!

Doc with sea star.jpg

Yeah the rumors are true... Doc's taking over! I am so excited to step into my new position as Summer Camp Director. This will be my fourth summer at Camp Ocean Pines, and my tenth year being involved in various summer camps. I've worked for some amazing programs in the past, including running before and after school programs for the Valley of the Sun YMCA and running my own music education programs for the City of Phoenix's recreation department. I love sharing nature and music with kids and have fallen in love with the beautiful central coast of California where our little camp lives. I can't wait to start some amazing new programs and to continue to give kids the best summers they've ever had!

Hey Campers! My name is Koi and I am looking forward to a third summer with y'all at Camp Ocean Pines. I am a sophomore at the University of Nevada, Reno. I was a Resident Assistant at the University this past year. I am studying to become a biology teacher, and am planning on studying abroad in Spain next semester with my best friend. I am looking forward to many new ocean adventures at camp this summer. Learning about animals in a hands on environment and making new friends is my favorite part of camp. I can't wait to meet you and have a great summer!

Call me Bubba.  You are destined to have a good time ahead. I'm from the Florida Keys where I inspired and excited tomorrow’s youth with marine science exploration. Bringing my love of shark fishing and extreme tide-pooling, Camp Ocean Pines adds a new element of diabolical fun. Notorious for sticky monkey flower disguises, I might be found wandering camp welding a flame torch aimed for the heart of ripe pine cones. My entourage includes all types of Mollusks with special spots for polyplacophora and cephalopods. If you are lucky enough to spend time with me this summer, you’re assured to have an infamous and epic adventure.

089.JPGHey everyone! Eric here, hailing from the redwood forests at Humboldt State University where I am on my way to one day hopefully working for the National Geographic. I can't wait for a great summer of camping, swimming, adventuring, and having a whole lot of fun. In my free time, I play my banjo or try to find the elusive Bigfoot. I hope you're all as excited as I am for camp to start!

Hey, my name is Sarah and Camp Ocean Pines is going to be a blast! Playing in the ocean and exploring nature is getting me excited for this summer. I just finished my first year at the University of Florida and I'm a zoology major. I love animals of all kinds and hope to find many during camping. I love going kayaking, swimming and hiking! Can't wait to meet everybody and have as much as possible.

Hey campers!  My name is Kat and I’m beyond excited to spend the summer with you at Camp Ocean Pines.  I just finished my first year at the University of Virginia where I’m studying to be an environmental science major, and after I graduate I want to come to school in California to study marine biology.  I love absolutely everything about the ocean, so I can’t wait to explore the coast, go kayaking, and just spend the summer by the sea.  I’m really looking forward to meeting you all and having an incredible summer… see you soon!

My name is Dane and I come from the sunny "land down under", Australia! I've deferred my Psychology/Sociology major over here to share in the best summer ever with you guys. I'm a dance teacher and a DJ around my local area so if you hear someone tapping away under the dinner table, it's probably me. I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone at camp and join in with all the activities lined up for you. Most of all, I'm hoping you can all teach me about the American culture and in return, I'll be sure to share a few bits and pieces about Australia too!
